I think it's a scam, I got the same return email.

Hello Sean, if you look at my other blog entries you will see how this scam works. They want you to do a credit check and send them results. When a company does a background credit check they do not receive certain information. When a consumer does a credit check on themselves they receive they get all their credit information. This scam wants the consumer credit report because it will have identifying things like your social security number and other identifying information like your past address's as if you request it your credit score. Check out my other blog entries for more details.
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad that I checked out "Auth Media", as I never heard of this company, and was directed to this blog. I also got the "second stage" email but the red flags went up as soon as they asked me for my credit report. It's too bad in a time that people are struggling to find employment that there are people who would take advantage.
ReplyDeleteI received the same email/reply from them. I'm in the Tallahassee/Jacksonville area. How sad! People are legitimately looking for jobs and online searches are flooded with spam these days! Craigslist, monster.com, yahoo jobs have all disappointed me!
ReplyDeleteHow sad! I received this same reply after emailing them about a job...People are legitimately trying to find jobs and the internet is FLOODED with scams and spam.
ReplyDeleteCraigslist, yahoo jobs and even monster.com have all disappointed me.
Yip, This is a scam alright. I applied for a job in western colorado and got the same reply from Jessica Cooper!

ReplyDeleteI got the same e-mail for Auth Media requesting a credit check and sending it to them. Naturally I googled the company and found this blog. It's a shame that people can get away with this.
ReplyDeleteI also received the same email, NO WAY! Employers have access to public records through their own background checks and credit reports. too bad, sounded like a cool job :]
ReplyDeleteI always google companies before sending my resume if possible, but you can no do that very often on Criagslist, so I applied and got the same email. NEVER give your social out!
ReplyDeleteI just got an email from these folks. They are now saying to "not" send your credit report. They link to what appears to be a phishing site for freecreditreport.com
ReplyDeleteShady folks. I discussed it here
